This wiki page offers some free online resources to support you during the distance learning process. The selected resources are simple in use and do not require extra knowledge or preparation. The aim of this page is to provide you with fun suggestions on spending leisure time in a way that will enrich your overall learning experience and develop independent learning skills. The page is divided into four sections: Games, Songs, Arts & Crafts and Stories.

Games

ABCYa.com

ABCYa.com provides educational resources for children starting from pre-kindergarten and up to Grade 6. Pre-K and Grade-K sections of the website offer amazing games and activities for preschool children. The resources are divided into 5 categories: Letters, Numbers, Holidays, Strategy, and Skill. 

The basic version of the website is free and does not require registration.

Letters

The Monster Mansion Letter Match game is designed to help children learn capital and lowercase letters. Players need to match letters in different cases; the game has audio guidance and fantastic animation. You can choose what to focus on: letter names or letter sounds. In addition, the game offers 2 playing modes: "show" and "memory." In the "show" mode, windows with cute monsters remain open, so the players simply need to match the letters. "Memory" mode is more challenging, as the letter windows are closed and players need to remember the window in which a certain cute monster hides and then match it with its letter-buddy.

Storytelling

Molly's Magic Adventures is an interactive and adventurous game. Unicorn Molly is looking for the rainbow. On the way Molly sees different object, meets friends, and does fun things. Players create their own story by making a decision every time Molly needs to choose where to go or what to do.

Numbers

The Counting Fish game helps students to learn the value of numbers in a fun and engaging way. Learners need to count the number of fish on the screen and press the corresponding icon. The game has 3 difficulty levels; as soon as the player masters a level, the next one becomes available.

Songs

Super Simple Songs

The Super Simple Songs Youtube channel has dozens of children's classic songs, as well as new educational songs that help students to learn and revise colors, numbers, letters, and much more! Don't forget to enable subtitles (CC) while watching the videos.

Down In The Deep Blue Sea is a super memorable song to learn sea animals vocabulary and sing along! 

Old MacDonald Had A Farm is a nursery rhyme classic that teaches animal sounds.

Pinkfong! Kids' Songs & Stories

Pinkfong is another great Youtube channel for preschoolers; it offers songs and stories. The channel has several playlists focused on different topics, for example, safety, sea animals, and science. Don't forget to enable subtitles (CC) while watching the videos.

Examples of songs:

Wash Your Hands songs will help to make the hand-washing routine fun and enjoyable! The channel has many more songs with different characters that stress the importance of washing hands.

The song A Healthy Meal encourages students to eat healthy and introduces some vegetable vocabulary.

Arts & Crafts

Pulled String Art prints are super simple to make and the result is breathtaking! Children won't get bored because every picture has a unique and mesmerising pattern. This is an excellent leisure-time activity that will develop your child's creativity, imaginations, sense of colors and shapes. 

Kindness Rock Painting  is another great activity for the whole family. You can create colorful rocks with motivational statements for every day.

Thato's Birthday Surprise is a story of gratitude that teaches children to appreciate the most important things, which often are non-materialistic. The story also revises days of the week.

Storyline online is a great children's literacy website with audiobooks read by famous actors. The audiobooks are animated and have subtitles function. All the videos are in free access and do not require registration or subscription.

Audio book

The Tale of Peter Rabbit written by Beatrix Potter is one of the most famous and beloved children' s books of all times. The story is read by Rose Byrne.

The Fable Cottage website offers new versions of traditional stories and tales. The stories are retold using modern, understandable language to help learners develop comprehension and include extra help with difficult vocabulary items. You can read the story or listen to it; some of the stories have a cartoon version (don't forget to enable subtitles (CC) while watching the videos). Some of the stories are also available in French, Spanish, Italian and German. No registration or subscription needed.
