Dear  middle school students and parents,

This wiki page offers some free online resources to support you during the distance learning process. The selected resources are simple in use and do not require extra knowledge or preparation. The aim of this page is to provide you with fun suggestions on spending leisure time in a way that will enrich your overall learning experience and develop independent learning skills. The page is divided into three sections: Read!, Explore! and Relax!.

Read!

Open Library

This is a wonderful online library with a wide range of ebooks. You can choose a book by exploring available options of a preferred genre, such as Fantasy, Biographies, Mystery and Detective Stories, or even Recipes. It is also possible to search for a specific book by author, title, or a key word. The website requires registration, but it takes only 2 minutes and is free of charge. After you register, you will have access to all the library's books, some of which you can read straight away and some of which you need to "borrow". You can borrow up to 10 books to read at the same time. Once you've read a borrowed book, you just need to click on "return" button.

Explore!

TedEd

Ted Ed website has excellent short educational videos on a variety of topics. You can become an expert in the field you are interested in by browsing videos on the topic of your choice. The videos are complemented with comprehension quizzes and discussion questions. If you don't know where to start, check TedEd series that compile several episodes under a fascinating topic.

Google Arts & Culture is a comprehensive guide to the world of Art. The platform has multiple functions. In the Collections section you can have virtual tours of museums worldwide. Alternatively, you can explore art through mediums, art movements, artists, historical events and more. The website is free and easy to navigate.

Board game arena website offers many world-famous board games in an online format, including Stone Age, Saboteur and Calestia. You can learn to play new games by watching available video instructions. Website requires registration, which is free of charge. You can also invite friends and play your favourite board games together.

Quick, Draw! is an interactive doodling website that helps to develop unconventional thinking and creativity in a fun way. The platform sets a drawing task, such as draw an owl, or a mermaid, and you have 20 seconds to complete it. The fun part is that you will get audio comments while drawing. Then you can compare your work of art with millions of doodles created by other users.
